If you think, designing a room
FROM THIS
TO THIS
HAPPENS LIKE THIS
I am here to tell you, it unfortunately doesn't. Designing is a process! From first devising a plan and budget, to client approval, to creating the room's palette, to measuring, to sourcing, to ordering, to installing, to styling not to mention dealing with any hiccups along the way.
For reference, this sitting room pictured above was a transformation that took 6 months from start to finish (4 months if we had selected in stock items and 9+ months if there were any custom pieces).
When the client and I first discussed how she wanted to use the room and what she imagined the furniture to look like is very different from how it ended up. Which is part of the interior design process! Sometimes you (the client) don't know what you want till you see the options in a space. It is the interior designers job to make the best recommendations and suggestions based on budget, size and use of room. What started out as a sitting room with a farmhouse feel on the first design board quickly transitioned to a modern with a touch of glam yet cozy room that the family uses more than their (also recently updated) family room.
Interior design is a team effort between the designer and the client. I encourage my clients to send me inspirational photos and links to products they like and want to have in their homes. Sometimes the client will want a piece that will not work with the design or fit into the room. It is my job to present options that do work. It takes an organized, flexible, dedicated and skilled designer to make the process seamless and stress free for clients.
As your interior designer, my motto is I design for you not for me.
